Chin Fillers (Non-sponsored Post)

So, after my jaw slimming botox, I went in search of chin fillers to lengthen my face. I did a few enquiries and generally it costs about $800 - $1000 depending on the type of filler you choose. I never knew there were SO many different ones except the two I've always read were Restylane and Juvederm. Even under each brand, there were sub-categories. Be sure to do your research as to what is it that you are targetting.

I prefer hyaluronic acid based fillers as they are simply absorbed into your body after about 12 - 18 months (depending on the type of filler and how ur body break it down), it's natural and if you don't like it, simply wait and it'll go away :) 

What I love about dermal fillers it that it has absolutely zero downtime, I took the jab and then went out to meet my friends. Nobody had a clue. The effects are IMMEDIATELY noticeable. I had a non-existent nose bridge and the doctor injected just 0.2ml and voila!!! I HAD A NOSE BRIDGE! Just a little cuz it's only 0.2ml but for me, I could see a more 3D effect to my face. Even the bf said I 'have more nose now'. Chin was immediately elongated too :)

There's a slightly high nose bridge and longer chin. To get a really V shape face, I'll probably need more jabs.

Let's break it down for you. Everything below are HA fillers.

Restylane (Sub Q) 

According to the doctor, this is a hard dermal filler and can last up to 1.5 - 2 years. Remember that different individuals break down the substance differently so the effect will vary. It is highly popular. However, some patients have remarked that the injected area feels hard (lumpy) as it slowly wears off in different parts. It's not something you can notice unless you touch your face though. 

Other types of Restylane products are Perlane, Lip Volume and Restylane. 

Juvederm

Juvederm has a higher concentration of HA than Restylane so Juvederm should last longer than Restylane. Doctors also say that Juvederm are smoother and more natural looking than Restylane. 

For the option with the longest results, opt for Juvederm Voluma.

Teosyal (Ultra Deep)

This filler comes in 1.2ml syringe. It has the ability to resculpt facial contours, restore facial volume, treat deep wrinkles. It is currently one of the longest lasting fillers on the market. 15 - 18months. 

In the end, I chose Teosyal Ultra Deep after much deliberation and advice of the doctor. She also made it a point to explain in detail to me and check my facial features to see if what I requested was something that was needed (she agreed my chin is very short) :) It was a painless experience as Teosyal products contain lidocaine, a type of anaesthesia that makes the injection less painful. I didn't feel any, just the initial prick. 

Total cost? 2000RM (($650 SGD)

Yes, in the end, I felt that going to KL to get it done is going to save me some money. I wrote to a whole bunch of clinic, and spoke to the doctors. I settled for Doctor Sylvia Wai. She was professional, patient and really really took her time to explain everything to me. She did my nose with the spare filler and I'm completely blown over by the change. Now that I've discovered dermal fillers, there's no going back!

Achieving that V-Shape face! (Non-sponsored post)

I've always had a football face all my life. Generally, I don't think I look like a swan but definitely I have no wish to remain an ugly duck either. No more duckling cuz I'm no longer that young. So, with what remains of my youth (if any...), I've decided to make the best out of it! The first step I did, was getting that much coveted V-shaped face! I've done some research on it. Although shaving my mandible jaw was much tempting and a permanent solution, I was darn afraid of surgery and thoughts of it going awry made me choose a safer, temporary option, BOTOX! Yes, perhaps you may think botox is all about getting rid of wrinkles and fine lines. But nooooo, botox can actually relax your jowl muscles and let you have a slimmer face. This is a picture of me taken before botox and 2 months after.

How do you know if you have BIG jowls (think Jaws! the shark)?
Simply, do a small test yourself. Stand in front of the mirror, bite and you will see the muscles in your lower jaw twitching. That's the muscles making your face look bulky.

Why do some people have bigger jaws? Well, I'm quite a carnivorous person. So perhaps you like your meat and hard food a little too much. All the chewing develops super muscular face. No, talking too much does not contribute to that. :P

Does botox hurt? To say it's completely painless, I'd be lying. It felt like an ant bite, maybe lesser. I am lucky to have an excellent doctor who ensured my comfort whom I will recommend to you in just a little.

How long does it last? Usually, it last about a year. But if done for two to three years, the effects could be permanent. Perhaps you need a jab occasionally at most.

Is it expensive? Compared to other beauty treatments that claims to give you results, this is one where you actually SEE results. It cost $1400 for a one year package (3 jabs). This package that I bought, is supposed to be a permanent effect in the long term (meaning over two of three years, 3 jabs a year).

How long was it before it took effect? I had my first jab in mid-december 2015. The first jab only slimmed my face a little because my jaw muscles are super 'powderful' and stubborn. Only after the 2nd jab at the end of Jan 2016 could I see more of the effects. At the moment, it is still slimming my face. Other effects I experienced My jaw muscles feel really weak now. I find chewing meat a chore. I've almost given up on my favorite steak. My diet now consists mainly of fish, vegetables and softer food. Unknowingly, I dropped a couple of kilos. YAY! Due to my hum-chim-pang / football face, after my face slimmed down, the skin around my lower jaws sagged a little. -sad- I'm planning for another thread lift later after the botox has worked to its full capacity and my face can no longer go any smaller. The loose skin isn't that noticeable because none of my colleagues have mentioned anything. Except that I looked like I lost weight (honestly, 2kilos cannot really tell la okay...only cuz my face smaller now). The change takes place slowly so people around you will not know you did anything :D
